Lateral Thinking in all situations
02/07/2007

Some people believe that you cannot have new ideas when you want them. So they acknowledge the importance and value of new ideas but feel that nothing can be done. This arises from the view that creativity is an inborn talent which only a few people have or that new ideas are a matter of chance. Both views are very old fashioned. Using just one of the formal tools of lateral thinking a workshop in South Africa generated 21,000 ideas for a steel company in one afternoon. We need to learn what can be done with formal creativity and then take action to introduce creativity formally in all organizations and situations.
