Traditional education is all about knowledge and analysis. This is fine- but not enough. Our thinking systems do not encourage us to think this way. If you cannot criticize or attack something then leave it alone. Yet, like the rear wheel of a car, something may be perfect – but not enough. This is sometimes called ‘the Adiba effect’. Knowledge and analysis are fine – but not enough. What is needed is an equal emphasis on ‘design’. Design is how you put together what you have in order to deliver the values you want.
You can analyse the past but you have to design the future.
I shall be developing a design curriculum for education. Design is not just about graphic design and making things prettier. It is a fundamental need in all we do.
