Our traditional habits of thinking, derived from the GG3 (Greek Gang of 3), encourage us to rush to judgement. This is also natural biological behaviour. Animals have to judge – as quickly as possible – friends from enemy, friendly gesture from attack, food from poison etc.
Mugabe has been heavily condemned over the events following the election in Zimbabwe. What is not so clear is how much control he had over elements in Zanu PF and its leadership. The design approach might have been to give him the title of “Father of the Nation”, respect, and income and a Palace. If his exit had been designed he might have been happy to take it. We can only hope that the agreement with the MDC opposition will work out.
