Brain-storming is useful but it is very weak. Just suspending judgement is not enough. The formal and structured tools of lateral thinking are much more powerful. These tools can also be used by an individual. Creativity is not just a group process. Groups can help from time to time by providing further information and by developing ideas further. With the formal tools of lateral thinking you do not have to rely on others stimulating ideas because you can stimulate your own ideas.
