Human affairs and progress
01/09/2009

Over the centuries we have made great advances in science and technology. In human affairs we have made very little progress. Even our methods of government are ancient and primitive. We still have conflicts and wars. We still believe in the adversarial system. Grant Todd in the USA did some research into the use of the Six Thinking Hats method of parallel thinking by juries in court. Using the method they reached unanimous decisions very quickly. The judges were so impressed that in at least three states the judge can now recommend that the jury use this method. This is the first change in the jury system for over a thousand years.
