The recent crash of the returned Genesis space capsule emphasized the high cost of space exploration. This particular venture cost $260 million and over the last thirty years some $300 billion have been spent on space exploration. The Genesis mission was designed to tell us about the solar wind and provide information about the formation of the earth.
All this is well worth doing in terms of scientific enquiry, prestige, military might, endeavour etc.
How much do we spend on the most important aspect of our human existence? Nothing is more important than human thinking because that determines everything else. The quality of our future will depend directly on the quality of our thinking.
