Design in Education
02/06/2007
Design is a matter of putting forward existing ingredients to deliver an intended value. Design is as fundamental as analysis but is totally neglected in education. It is considered that design is for architects, graphic designers and fashion designers. This is mistaken. Skill in design is essential in any thinking that is going to go beyond mere description. There are many ways of teaching design even to very young children. I used to run a design programme in an educational magazine and children as young as four years old showed a great design attitude.
